Membership requirements for the Disaster, Conflict and Social Crisis Research Network
The Disaster, Conflict and Social Crisis Research Network was formally recognized as a Research Network of the European Sociological Association (ESA) on April 26-27, 2000. To become a full member of the network, with the right to vote and hold office, one must first be a member in good standing of the ESA. Membership in ESA is open to a broad category of scholars who actively contribute to the development of sociological knowledge in or on Europe. Specifically, full membership of ESA (and the DSCRN) is open to scholars who do/have one or more of the following:
- Carry out sociological research
- Teach sociology
- Have sociological jobs
- Are members of European national sociological associations
- Have academic degrees and training in sociology.
Members of ESA in good standing who agree with the aims and purposes of the DSCRN, as set forth by the founding members during their Amsterdam (1999) meeting may apply to become full members of the DSCRN by completing the electronic application form below.
Membership fees: For the present and following a decision by the founders, no additional fees are imposed on members of the Research Network who are members in good standing of the European Sociological Association. Starting from 2011, The European Sociological Association also allows its members to support a Research Network for 10 euros. The support is paid when registering with ESA.
Associate membership is open to those, particularly outside Europe, who wish merely to be kept informed of events and current issues but who do not wish to become full voting members of the European Sociological Association. For associate membership, check the appropriate button on the form above.
